Reveal text with the Typewriter animation

Updated 17 September 2026

Typewriter reveals a message as though it's being typed. It's a text-only animation and a great way to make a short line land.

  1. Select a text box and choose Animate → Typewriter.
  2. Under Reveal by, choose Letter, Word or Line. Letter gives the classic typed look; Word and Line reveal bigger chunks.
  3. Set the speed field or use Slow / Medium / Fast. In Letter mode, speed is measured in letters per second.
  4. Choose Steady for an even pace or Human for a natural, slightly uneven pace with small pauses. Turn the Blinking cursor on or off.
  5. Set Delay and Repeat. Repeat 0 types once and leaves the finished message on screen. Rewind and play to check the whole message finishes in time.
Example settings: Letter, 12 letters per second, Steady, cursor off, Delay 1.5 seconds, Repeat 0.
Allow time to read. Leave several seconds after the reveal finishes. Left-aligned text gives the truest typewriter look — centred text shifts sideways as it grows.

Note that Typewriter uses Repeat, not Loop: 0 means “once, then stay”. Other animations treat 0 as Forever — see Animation basics.
